Davis Romero has seen it happen before. Two prospects on the same team with the same last name. One of them shines just a little bit brighter than the other one. All of the sudden the latter is pegged with a new nickname on some website. People are calling him Felix "The Other" Romero. Things spiral so far out of control that he's forced out of the organization and is suspended for a drug violation. Davis is determined not to go the way of Felix now that there's a new Romero in town. (Though I'm happy to report that Felix is pitching very well in Advanced Class A Wilmington.)
Syracuse game - rained out
New Hampshire 2, Norwich 3
Casey Janssen returned to action and pitched a decent game. But the Navigators bats found a few too many holes as they scored 3 runs on 8 hits in 5 innings against Janssen, who struck out 4 and walked none. Ron Davenport led the offense with 3 hits, including the team's only extra base hit, a double, and drove in a run. Clint Johnson drove in the other Cats run and the big man was also caught stealing for the first time this year. Jesse Carlson pitched yet another perfect inning in relief. His line at AA this year: 0.00 ERA, 22 IP, 8 H, 3 BB, 28 K's. Not bad.
Dunedin 5, Daytona 1
Davis Romero: 7 innings, 0, runs, 3 hits, 1 walk, 11 K's. Learn this kids name. Robinson Diaz had 3 hits and drove in 4 of the Jays runs. David Smith also had three hits while Big Vito didn't exactly go big; 0 for 5 with a pair of K's. Danny Hill closed out the final two innings allowing a run.
Lansing 5, Clinton 7
Danny Core got the start and cruised through 3 scoreless innings. Then he walked allowed a walk and a homer in the fourth and then walked the bases loaded and allowed an RBI single to start the fifth. He was pulled with the bases still loaded and none out in favour of Aaron Tressler. Tressler escaped the jam by striking out 2 and inducing a ground out but gave up a pair of runs in the following inning. Ryan Klosteman and Christian Snavely had 2 hits apiece.
