Two wins and four losses. Pulaski's Jesse Litsch was outstanding, retiring 22 in a row while conceding only two hits over eight innings, Lansing held on for the win despite being outhit 15-7. Guillermo Quiroz is back in AAA and had a couple of hits, including a home run.

Charlotte 6 Syracuse 5

Syracuse were down 6-1 after four and couldn't get out of the hole. Josue Matos continued a string of poor appearances giving up all six runs on 10 hits in 3.2 innings. Jason Arnold pitched well in relief, 3.1 innings of two hit, shutout pitching. Meanwhile the Chiefs chipped away, back to back doubles by Bryant Nelson and Julius Matos scored the first run. In the fifth Anton French tripled and scored on a passed ball. In the sixth Guillermo Quiroz homered to make it 6-3. Gabe Gross doubled to lead off the seventh and scored on a sac fly. Quiroz singled to score Kevin Barker, also in the seventh, to make it a 6-5 game, but that was it for the scoring. Anton French led all hitters with three hits, Matos, Danny Solano and Quiroz had 2 hits each.

Box Score

Portland 5 New Hampshire 3 - 10 innings

Portland completed their sweep of New Hampshire yesterday with an extra inning win. Tracey Thorpe had been pitching very well since his call-up but he was tagged for back to back jacks in the tenth inning as New Hampshire dropped one and a half games behind Portland. Portland outhit the Fisher Cats 11-4. New Hampshire took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on a two run home run from Ryan Roberts. Portland scored single runs in the fourth and sixth to tie the game until Chip Cannon homered in the bottom of the sixth. Josh Banks pitched well for the Fisher Cats, 7.1 innings, 7 hits, no walks and 8 K's. Banks allowed a one out single in the eighth and was pulled for Jesse Carlson who got the second out but then hit Hanley Ramirez to put runners on first and second. David Murphy then singled to tie the game, and that was it until the tenth. Roberts was the only Cat with 2 hits.

Box Score

Dunedin 0 Daytona 6

Not much to report here, Daytona scored 2 in the first and Dunedin were limited to six hits. Kurt Isenberg went seven, 5 runs, 4 earned, nine hits, one walk, two K's. Dunedin's six hits were all singles.

Box Score

Peoria 6 Lansing 7

Lansing jumped out to a 6-0 lead thanks to a couple of big hits. In the first inning David Hicks came to the plate with the bases loaded and doubled all three runners home. In the second Christian Snavely came to bat with two runners on and hit an inside the park home run. Russell Savickas pitched well, 5IP, 5H, 2BB, 6K and one run. Juan Perez pitched three shutout innings, he did allow 5 hits but the defense was able to turn three DP's behind him. Leading 6-1 in the sixth Lansing tacked on another run, the eventual winning run. Eugenio Velez doubled to lead off the inning and scored on a ground out. Lansing led 7-1 heading to the ninth, with Joey McLaughlin on the mound. Joey gave up three hits and a walk, and Daryl Harang came on to allow a walk and a homerun to make it 7-6, but he did eventually get the final out. Peoria outhit Lansing 15-7, Eric Nielsen was the only Lugnut to have two hits.

Box Score

Auburn 5 Tri-City 6

Randy Dicken started but did not have his best stuff, he struggled through 5.2 innings allowing six hits and four walks; he gave up five runs, three earned, with only one K. Auburn were unable to get on the scoreboard until the eighth when Brian Pettway hit a two run home run, his second. In the ninth the Tri-City pitcher, Felipe Paulino Del Guidice, perhaps tired out from writing his name, walked two hitters before Ryan Patterson cashed them in with a two out, three run home run, his eighth. Patterson was the only Auburn batter with more than one hit, he was 2-5. Auburn could not get the tying run on base.

Box Score

Pulaski 3 Danville 1

Pulaski jumped out to a fast start with 2 quick runs, Zach Kalter tripled, Graig Badger doubled and Jacob Butler also doubled, but the next three hitters struck out. Pulaski added a third run in the fourth when Chris Gutierrez doubled and scored on an error. But the day belonged to Jesse Litsch. The first hitter for Danville singled on a ground ball to third, then Litsch retired 22 in a row, lowering his ERA to 2.45. Litsch pitched 8 innings, with 2 hits, no walks, and 7 strikeouts with 11 ground ball outs and seven flyball outs. Litsch turned 20 during spring training and was a 24th round pick last year out of a Florida JuCo. This is Litsch's first pro season. Gutierrez led the Jays hitters going 2-4.
