...in Lansing. Cannon-ating drives and enormous saves were the order of the day as the farm affiliates went 2-2.
Durham 4 Syracuse 3
The Bulls charged back from an early 3-0 deficit and gored the Sky Chiefs. That was painful. A two run, two out throwing error by Julius Matos in the 8th inning was the difference in the game. The Chiefs then blew terrific opportunites in their half of the eighth and in the ninth, with cautious baserunning being the culprit the first time and foolhardy baserunning the second. In the result, the Chiefs could manage only 3 runs on 17 hits. Brandon League started and went 6 innings and surrendered 2 earned runs on 9 hits and 2 walks with 6 strikeouts. Adrian Burnside, Jason Arnold, who was victimized by the error, and Spike Lundberg finished up. Bryant Nelson had 3 doubles and a single in 5 trips, but his baserunning error in the ninth proved to be important. Gabe Gross singled three times in 4 trips.boxscore-milb.com

The Fisher Cats could not claw their way back after the Sea Dogs scored 4 in the 2nd inning off Josh Banks. Banks pitched well after that, and ended up going 6 innings, allowing all 5 runs on 9 hits and no walks with 6 strikeouts. Jamie Vermilyea continued his fine pitching with 2 hitless innings, including a walk and 3 strikeouts, after Banks. Jordan DeJong pitched a perfect ninth. Raul Tablado and Ryan Roberts (who went 3-3 with a walk) hit solo homers in the fifth to make the game close.

Christian Snavely's bases loaded single in the bottom of the 13th broke a 13-13 tie, but the story of the game was Box favourite Chip Cannon. Cannon hit for the cycle and walked 3 times, twice intentionally. Curtis Thigpen reached base 6 times, and Yuber Rodriguez hit his 2nd homer of the season. Kyle Yates started and was touched for 9 earned runs. Po-Hsuan Keng, Mark Sopko, Jeremy Harper and Juan Perez followed, with Perez pitching 2 scoreless innings for the win, and the cure for trisadekaphobics the world over.
