A cool afternoon in Manchester, with the weather below 10 (50 for the Americans among us) and a light drizzle (rain for the Americans among us). Shaun Marcum continued his good fortunes, pitching five decent innings of the seven in yesterday's first game. Lee Gronkiewicz picked up his 12th save.
Once again, the Fishers had no power. The only extra-base hit came from Ron Acuna and it was a double. Justin Singleton and Rob Cosby each drew two walks, but there's not much else to talk about. Simon Pond (yes, THE Simon Pond) walked and scored. Moving on...

This game will continue today at 11 am, another early start. It's 4-2 after five for Bowie, Ismael Ramirez perhaps wishing the stats from last night didn't count.

Well, how 'bout that? The D-Jays were down 10-4 going to the bottom of the seventh, David Purcey not having a good start for a change -- the only thing he did well tonight was strike out six batters in less than five innings. Gerry described it just as well as I could: "Purcey pitched four innings with no hits and only one walk. Then the fifth started and three home runs later the roof had fallen in. So Purcey was excellent for four innings and terrible for one."
The offense, as you might have guessed, was on fire (second Wednesday in a row with 11 runs scored), with four hits by On-Base Jayce Tingler, homeruns from Eric Arnold, Carlo Cota and Robinzon Diaz and another big hit -- a game winning infield single from Arnold. 15 hits total, and everyone got at least one.

Cory Patton hit a homer but the Lugnuts only got two other hits. Chi-Hung Cheng and Po-Hsuan Keng weren't very good, giving up multiple runs in 3.1 innings each. I really don't have much to say on this one...I guess that happens with an 8-1 loss.
Actually, the most interesting part of this game was former pitching phenom Rick Ankiel. He played right field, drew a walk, reached base twice and had an RBI sac fly.
