The D-Jays had mostly good weather this April, and responded by scoring over 5 and 1/2 runs per game. Unfortunately, their fine pitching staff surrendered over 5 runs per game, and so the team ended up with a 13-10 record for the month. They are in third place, 3 games behind the Lakeland Tigers.
Dunedin's offence
The D-Jays have had a fine long-sequence offence, with team marks of .289/.359/.400. Their on-base percentage leads the league. With one more power bat (Chip Cannon?), the offence could be devastating. The offence has been spread around the entire lineup, with Adam Lind, Brian Patrick, Jayce Tingler, John Schneider and Ryan Roberts making notable contributions.

Dunedin's pitching/defence
The Dunedin starting rotation of David Purcey, Zach Jackson, Davis Romero, Kurt Isenberg and Mike MacDonald have all had their ups and downs. The four lefties at the top of the rotation have all posted nice K/IP ratios, but have given up a fair number of hits. The opposition BABIP is .354; this is suggestive of a somewhat porous defence.
Justin James and Brad Mumma have pitched well in the pen, but closer Milton Tavarez, and especially Danny Core and Tracy Thorpe have struggled.

Capsule comments on prospects
Adam Lind
Lind is just a pure hitter, and he's only 21, and jumped from short-season ball to high A without missing a beat. All he needs to do is convert a few of those doubles into homers, and he will be the complete offensive package (all right, it would be nice if he walked a little more, but you can't complain). He is playing left-field now, but it is unclear whether he will end up there or at first base.
Jayce Tingler
Given a second chance at high-A ball, Tingler has responded well. He's got no power, but with his control of the strike zone and his speed, he may have a future as a fourth outfielder.
Robinson Diaz
Robinson is off to a slow start in the FSL. He still has time to improve.
David Purcey
Purcey is as advertised. He's got good stuff, but his control is a work in progress. 15 walks in 21 innings means that his stay in Dunedin will be extended.
Zach Jackson
Zach Jack's ERA according to DIPS would be about 2.5. If he has a couple of more starts like this weekend's, he may be the first to be promoted to New Hampshire.
Davis Romero
Ugly ERA, but really he has pitched pretty well. 7 walks and 27 strikeouts in 21 innings is the mark of a pitcher to be watched.
Kurt Isenberg
This was a surprise. The 2003 4th round draft who struggled at both Dunedin and Charleston in 2004 got another chance when Dustin McGowan wasn't ready for action. He has pitched well enough to merit a second look. Ahhh, pitchers.
Justin James
The 2003 5th round draft pitched well in Charleston last year, but struggled in Dunedin. He seems to have found his bearings in high A this year.
