No, it's not a dirty joke nor the start of another tongue twister. When little Jayce Tingler hits a homer, it's front page news at the Box. And last night, he hit his first of the season, as the farm affiliates went 3-1 .
Syracuse 0 Pawtucket 2
Justin Miller pitched 5 shutout innings, but then faltered in the sixth inning. He surrendered a bunt single, a walk to Dave Berg and then a ground ball single to leave the bases loaded with one out for Chris Baker. Baker walked in a run, and then allowed a sacrifice fly, and that was the ballgame. Miller allowed 4 hits and 3 walks, while striking out 5 in 5.1 innings. Aside from the walk, Baker was perfect in the remaining 2.2 innings. Chad Mottola doubled and singled in 4 trips, while Eric Crozier continued his hot hitting by doubling off the wall and walking in 3 trips. Gabe Gross went 1-4 and made a fine sliding catch. The Sky Chiefs left 8 runners on in the game, most tellingly in the first inning when John-Ford Griffin grounded into a double play with the bases loaded and nobody out, and the Pawsox emerged unscathed from the inning.

Raul Tablado's 3 run homer was the key blow in a 4 run explosion by the Fisher Cats in the 3rd inning. Shaun Marcum pitched very well through 6 innings, allowing one earned run on five hits and a walk, with 5 strikeouts. In the top of the seventh, he surrendered a ground ball single and Chase Lambin's 4th homer of the season, but Ryan Houston and Lee Gronkiewicz shut the door on the B-Mets the rest of the way. Houston was particularly impressive, allowing no hits and two walks, while striking out 3 in 2 innings of work. Kevin Barker chipped in with 2 hits for the Cats.Boxscore-milb.com

The D-Jays took a measure of revenge for the big club by taking an early 5-0 lead over the T-Yankees and coasting to an 8-3 victory. Jayce Tingler homered and reached base 4 times, while Ryan Roberts homered twice, singled and hit a sacrifice fly and drove in 5 runs. Roberts likes Aprils.
