Okay, so the Cards win the first two, just to have the Astros win the next three. The Yankees win the first three, just to have the Red Sox win the next two. What a weird pair of LCSes.

Don't fret kids! We have a couple of Jays articles to discuss today:


  1. It's Dr. Prison Fence's mailbag!

      Hinske's offensive stagnation was one of the most perplexing things to happen to Toronto over the last two years. He got a free pass in 2003 because of a broken bone in his hand. He didn't have any such impediment in 2004, which makes one wonder if his first season was also his best.

      That may well be the case, but this reporter doesn't believe it. He's just 27 years old, and there's no reason to believe his batting stroke will never return. He made large strides with the glove last season, which shows that his skill set isn't completely static. It's reasonable to expect Hinske to hit better next season. Then again, it was every bit as fair to believe that last year.

      It took me the first week just to learn how to spell his last name and the season's second week to figure out how to pronounce it. But no matter what you call him, be sure to identify Vito Chiaravalloti (Blue Jays - 1B) as a hitter on the rise. The Blue Jay switch-hitter went 4-4 with a pair of long homers in one game this week; he's batting .524/.583/1.000
