A couple updates thanks to Gerry in yesterday's thread. Gustavo Chacin has been called up to AAA Syracuse to fill in for Jesus Sanchez. I suspect there's a good chance that he'll be sent back down come playoff time. Also Shawn Fagan has been suspended for 15 days for unspecified reasons.
Scranton-WB 8, Syracuse 7
The Skychiefs took a 6-3 lead into the eighth inning but the bullpen coughed up the lead. Ryan Glynn battled through 5.2 innings followed by a solid 1.1 from Talley Haines. Veterans Anton French, Anthony Sanders and Chad Hermansen all hit home runs for Syracuse while Russ Adams hit three singles and Eric Crozier walked thrice.
Jason Kershner came on in the eighth but allowed a home run followed by a walk before he was yanked in favour of Bob File. Unfortunately File was not much more successful allowing 3 more runs to cross the plate in the 8th followed but another solo home run in the ninth.

New Hampshire 6, Binghamton 2
The Binghamton Mets arrived in Manchester with a 4 game lead over their nearest competitors, the Fisher Cats, with a chance to all but lock up first place. Instead, 5 days later, they find themselves trailing those same Fisher Cats by a game with one game left in the home-and-home series. Josh Banks and newest F-Cat Kip Bouknight, recently acquired from the Rockies, teamed up to down the Mets for the fifth straight night. Banks was impressive punching out 9 in his 5 innings allowing only a single run on 4 hits and 2 walks. Bouknight allowed only an unearned run on 2 hits in his 4 innings while striking out 3 and got the save.
A two run homer from John-Ford Griffin gave the Fisher Cats a 3-1 lead in the sixth. Two innings later, Maikel Jova rubbed salt in the Mets wounds with a 3 run shot.

Sarasota 4, Dunedin 7 - Game 1
Sarasota 3, Dunedin 2 - Game 2
Shaun Marcum started the first game of the doubleheader for the D-Jays and got off to a rough start, giving up a two run shot to Dustin Pedroia in the top of the first and three singles leading to a run in the second. Marcum would settle down after that and finished 5 innings with 7 K’s and no walks. Brian Reed pitched the final two allowing only an inherited runner to score.
In the second half of the doubleheader Ismael Ramirez pitched another gem going six innings striking out 6 and walking none. But the offense wasn’t there to help as Andy Torres gave up a run in the top of the seventh and took the loss. Raul Tablado provided the bulk of the offense with 4 hits including a long ball in each half of the doubleheader. Catcher Erik Kratz also had a home run as well as a double in the top half.

Rome 1, Charleston 8
Rome may not have been built in a day but they sure crumbled quickly under the force of Charleston's offense. Leadoff hitter Robinson Diaz was 3 for 3 with a walk as only 1 Charleston starter did not reach base.
After struggling in his first few appearances in Charleston, lefthanderErik Rico was given his first professional start and responded with five innings of 1 hit, shutout ball. Jeremy Harper followed up with three shutout inning of his own while Brad Esarey gave up the lone run in the ninth.

Pulaski 3, Burlington 2
Chi-hung Cheng was scheduled to start this one and shows up in the box score but didn't face a batter. No official reason given yet but a rain delay at the beginning of the game seems to be the most likely cause for Cheng's non appearance. Adrian Martin threw the first four innings allowing one run. Edwards Rodriguez had similar results over the next three innings.
Luke Hetherington doubled home the tying run in the 8th and went on to score the go ahead run.
