Charleston 9 Lexington 7
Seven runs scored in the first inning but it was a four run eighth that won it for the Alley Cats. Charleston registered thirteen hits while allowing twelve. The first four Alley Cat hitters reached base, capped by a grand slam from Clint Johnston. Robinson Diaz's triple was the big hit in the four run eighth. Joey Reiman and Johnston had three hits each. Game Story
Lowell 5 Auburn 6
Yours truly was in attendance for this game, look for a more detailed report in the next few days. Casey Janssen, Scott Roy and Justin Maureau all were scored upon. Joey McLaughlin pitched the eighth and ninth to get the win.
Auburn trailed 5-2 going to the bottom of the eighth. Brian Hall singled and with two out Curtis Thigpen hit a ground ball in the hole between third and short. The third baseman got to the ball but bobbled it and all were safe. The play was originally scored an error, a fair ruling, but this morning it shows as a hit. Adam Lind doubled to score one and Eric Nielsen also doubled to tie the game.
McLaughlin walked the lead-off hitter in the ninth but David Corrente, from Chatham, Ontario, threw out the runner trying to steal. Corrente led off the bottom of the ninth "just looking to make contact and get on base". He made contact all right, over the left field wall to win the game for the Doubledays.
