A key homer in Auburn and a couple of fine pitching performances were the bright lights on an otherwise dim 2-4 evening for the farm affiliates. You know it's a bad day, when you look at a Syracuse newspaper and the headline reads "Banks hit in two counties" and you immediately wonder what the organization is doing with Josh.

Louisville scored 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning off Josue Matos, and the Sky Chiefs had difficulty getting any attack going from then on. Josue Matos went 6 innings, allowing all 4 runs, 3 earned, on 5 hits and 2 walks. Matos struck out 7. Dave Maurer allowed 2 baserunners and struck out 2 in 2 innings of relief. The Sky Chiefs could muster only 6 hits, 2 by Anthony Sanders. Russ Adams, Guillermo Quiroz and Gabe Gross each reached base once in four plate appearances. Howie Clark played first base, after returning from Toronto.

The Senators scored a run in the 11th off Jordan DeJong for the victory. The Fisher Cats broke off to an early 3-0 lead behind a Tyrell Godwin solo homer and a 2 run double by Paul Chiaffredo. The Senators came back with a run in the 3rd and 2 runs in the 4th to tie up the game at 3. And there the score remained until the 11th. Jamie Vermilyea started and went 6.2 innings. Vermilyea allowed 3 earned runs on 9 hits and 2 walks with 3 strikeouts. Ryan Houston went 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing 4 baserunners and striking out 2. Jordan DeJong took the loss, going 1.2 innings and allowing 5 baserunners and striking out 2. Aaron Hill, Dominic Rich and Danny Solano had 2 hits each for the Fisher Cats.

Justin James pitched 6 shutout innings to lead the D-Jays to victory. Ryan Roberts homered in the 3rd inning, and Jason Waugh drove in 3 runs late with singles to provide the offence. James allowed 3 hits and 3 walks, and struck out 4. Andy Torres gave up a run in the eighth and Brian Reed gave up a run in the ninth, before Bubbie Buzachero came on to get the last out and the save. Roberts, Negron, Waugh and Cota each had 2 hits for Dunedin.

Jeremy Harper's pitching struggles, and an error by Jermy Acey and a passed ball, led to an early 7-1 deficit. The Alley-Cats drew 10 walks on the evening, but could not make up the deficit due to 14 men left on base. Harper went 3.2 innings and allowed 7 runs, 2 earned, on 8 hits and 3 walks, with 3 strikeouts. Joaquin Canizal and Mark Sopko pitched effectively in relief, with Canizal striking out 4 and walking none in 3.1 innings and Sopko allowing 2 baserunners and no runs in 2 innings of work. Joey Reiman doubled, tripled and walked twice in 5 plate appearances, and Christian Snavely doubled, tripled and walked in 5 plate appearances to lead the Alley Cat offence. In addition to drawing 10 walks, the Alley-Cats struck out 15 times.

Curtis Thigpen's 3 run homer in the 5th innings was the decisive blow for the Doubledays, who trailed 2-1 entering the 5th. Casey Janssen started and went only 3 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 5 hits and 1 walk with 2 strikeouts. Joey McLaughlin Jr. came on in relief, and earned the win with great pitching. Joey allowed 1 unearned run on 1 hit and 1 walk with 5 strikeouts in 3.2 innings. Kristian Bell, Chris Leonard and Dewon Day closed out the game, each pitching well, with Day earning his 6th save. Aaron Matthews reached base 3 times, and Brian Hall, Thigpen and Chip Cannon twice each. Ryan Klosterman hit his 3rd triple of the young short season.

Pulaski jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning, but it was to be short-lived. Adrian Martin had his first rough outing of the season, going 3.1 innings and surrendering 7 earned runs on 11 hits. Martin did strike out 5 and walk nobody, but on this night, the silver lining to the cloud was thin. Edward Cannon pitched 3.2 scoreless innings of relief, allowing only 1 hit and striking out 1. James Pidutti allowed an unearned run in the final 2 innings, while walking 3 and striking out 1. The P-Jays scored their runs in the 1st in textbook fashion, walks to Charles Anderson and Yuber Rodriguez followed by a RBI single by Nick Thomas and a 2 RBI double by Jon Chapell. The pickings were slim after that, despite 9 team walks. Pulaski left 10 runners on. Chapell walked twice, in addition to his big double, and Junior Chourio had 2 hits.
