Must have been a snow day or something. All the teams had the day off except for those poor suckers in Dunedin and Auburn. Neither of those offensive powerhouses were really able to get things going as they only scored 4 runs apiece, but each still managed to win behind some solid pitching.
Fort Myers 3 Dunedin 4
The Miracle opened the scoring with an unearned run in the 1st inning off of starter Shaun Marcum after a two base error by catcher Jose Yepez. The Jays responded with a two run shot off the bat of Ron Davenport in the bottom of the frame. After a see-saw battle and a Raul Tablado solo shot in the fifth, the game was tied 3-3 heading into the ninth. Brian Reed, who came on in the 8th and induced a big inning-ending double play to bail out Tracy Thorpe, retired Fort Myers quite handily in the ninth despite the leadoff man reaching on a Manny Mayorson error. Davenport led off the ninth with a walk and was promptly advanced to second base by a Vito Chiaravalloti single and driven home on a single by Rodney Medina to win the game.
Marcum finished with 7 strikeouts, no walks, 3 runs, 2 earned on 8 hits through 6.1 innings. Reed earned the win going the final 1.2 innings without a hit or walk. Thorpe pitched a scoreless inning

Batavia 0 Auburn 4
Auburn’s latest winning streak was extended to 3 games thanks in large part to 6 shutout innings from their starter Juan Perez. College World Series finalist Kyle Yates made a fine professional debut pitching two shutout innings with 4 strikeouts. Dewon Day finished off the Muckdogs with a perfect 9th inning.
The offense was led by Yates’ college teammate Curtis Thigpen who singled, doubled and was hit by a pitch. Brian Hall opened the scoring with a two run homer in the first and the Doubledays wouldn’t look back. Adam Lind and Ryan Klosterman would also reach base 2 times in 4 trips by the time the evening was through.
