Jamie Vermilyea returns to earth. A Chief hit a grand slam to turn a loss into a win. Syracuse had a winning week. Aaron Hill and Robinson Diaz each doubled in their only at-bat to represent the Blue Jays with distinction at yesterday's Futures Game.
Toledo 8 Syracuse 10
Syracuse scored seven runs in the seventh and eighth for a big come from behind win. Mike Smith started and gave up six runs in 6.1 innings. Smith left trailing 4-3 but with two runners on. Adam Peterson came on and let both inherited runners score, one on a sac fly and the other on an error by Gross, but atl east he is playing in the field. Peterson then allowed a single and a home run and it was 8-3 Toledo. He came back to strike out the side in the eighth. Kevin Frederick pitched the ninth for the save.
Syracuse got on the board in the third when Jeff Guiel singled and scored on a homerun by Julius Matos. Simon Pond doubled in the fourth and scored on a sac fly from Anthony Sanders.
The big comeback started in the seventh. Matos walked, Fagan singled, Matos scored on a wild pitch and Gross doubled home Fagan.
That brings us to the ninth with Syracuse trailing by two. Sanders got things going with a double. Matos singled him in. Fagan and Gross walked. Glenn Williams hit a grand slam to give the Chiefs the lead. It was the first grand slam of the year for the Chiefs.
Matos was 4-4 with two doubles and a home run. Anthony Sanders also had three hits. Gabe Gross was 3-4 with two doubles and a walk.

Harrisburg 10 New Hampshire 4
Jamie Vermilyea had not given up a run in AA, until yesterday. His streak ended quickly with two home runs in the first inning. Jamie was not "on", he was leaving his pitches up in the zone which is not a good thing for a ground ball pitcher. He hit a batter and walked two in the third. Throw in two hits and three runs were in for Harrisburg and it was 6-0. Vermilyea went four innings and allowed seven runs on seven hits.
New Hampshire scored three in the fifth. Jose Umbria doubled and scored on a single by Dominic Rich. Brad Hassey then hit a two run home run. John Ford Griffin hit a home run in the eighth.
Brandon League pitched the eighth and ninth, conceding just one hit. His ERA is now 2.73.

Dunedin - off day
Raul Tablado was named hitter of the week and Ismael Ramirez pitcher of the week for the week ending July 11th.
Delmarva 2 Charleston 9
Danny Core was his usual efficient self and with all the bats going for Charleston this one was over early. Core allowed one run in six innings on five hits and one walk. Charleston led 8-1 after four innings.
Charleston recorded sixteen hits, four by Joey Wolfe. Clint Johnston and Christian Snavely hit home runs. Every starter had a hit.

Auburn 7 Jamestown 9
The bats were at hot as usual for Auburn but on this day the pitching let them down. Casey McKenzie gave up four runs in five innings on eight hits. But it was Joey McLaughlin Jr. who blew it up good. McLaughlin gave up five runs while recording only one out. He walked three, made an error and allowed two hits. A one run deficit for Auburn quickly became six and although Auburn staged a come back they could not make it all the way back.
Auburn had twelve hits. Adam Lind and Aaron Mathews had three hits each. Ryan Klosterman and Jason Armstrong had two hits, and Brian Hall hit a home run.
Princeton 1 Pulaski 4
This was a pitchers duel through five and a half innings. Princeton scored their lone run in the top of the first off Adrian Martin, but shut them down after that. Pulaski scored one in the fifth on singles from Anthony Garibaldi and John Chappell. Pulaski added some insurance in the bottom of the sixth. Chappell walked, Chalres Anderson singled, Junior Churio singled to drive in one and Luke Hetherington singled to drive in a second run. singled in the seventh to drive in a triple.
Adrian Martin pitched six innings, allowed one run on four hits and two walks. Aaron Tressler finished up for his first save.

Pulaski are 5-2 for the week and have started 15-6 to lead their division by one and a half games
