Ironically enough, it’s New Hampshire that officially had an Off Day yesterday. Syracuse, Dunedin, and Charleston all played some ball, and combined for 2 runs while giving up 28.

Syracuse 0 @ Rochester 8 (8 innings)
Chris Baker started for the SkyChiefs, and was charged with all 8 runs in the ballgame. 5 came in the 2nd inning, with 4 of the tallies going down as unearned after an error by SS Russ Adams. Baker was tonged for 11 hits in his 3-2/3 innings, with 2 walks and no strikeouts. One of the two homers off him was hit by some kid named Justin Morneau, his 13th of the AAA season. Dave Maurer and Mike Smith were efficient in mopping up, Maurer striking out 3 in his 2-1/3 while surrendering 3 hits.
Meanwhile, Syracuse hitters managed only 1 hit (a single by 2B Stubby Clapp in the 6th) and two walks, as Wee Willie Eyre pitched the rain-shortened shutout.

Dunedin 1 @ Sarasota 6
Things were only slightly better down in Florida, as the D-Jays took their thumping at the hands of the Sarasota Red Sox. LF Jayce Tingler, DH Gregg Raymundo, and 1B Vito Chiaravalloti each reached base twice, Tingler and Raymundo by way of a base hit and a walk, Big Vito with a single and a double. 2B Carlo Cota went oh-fer; 3B Raul Tablado managed a double in four trips (and 3 Ks), and CF Miguel Negron was hitless in three trips.
Lefty Kurt Isenberg started for Dunedin and was charged with 4 earned on 4 hits in 3 innings, 2 each on the walks and strikeouts. Jordy Templet was the best man out of the pen, surrendering a walk while getting all three of his outs by strikeout.

Charleston 1 @ Lexington 14
In a Sally League matinee matchup, Danny Core set the tone for the entire organization with 7 runs in his 4 innings. But it was Marcos Sandoval with the truly ineffective and curious line for the day: One-third of an inning, 5 runs on 1 hit and 3 walks. With no homers. How? Well, there was a hit batter as well. And portsider Brad Esaray did the honours of allowing both runners he inherited from Sandoval to score. The only Alley Cat pitcher to not give up a run? Brian Patrick. Backup outfielder Brian Patrick. He came into the game in the 4th inning, replacing David Smith in centrefield, and drew a walk in one of his two plate appearance. In the bottom of the 8th, with Charleston trailing by 13, Patrick took to the hill and held the Legends off the board despite an error by 2B Ryan Roberts.
Roberts made up for his defensive miscue with easily the best offensive performance in the Toronto organization, going 2 for 3 with a homer and a walk. SS Juan Peralta had the only other Charleston hit.
