No thank you or please no regard for the time
We never cry we never retreat
We have no conception of love or defeat
Today's the day for the draft! I won't be linking any of the draft-related stories, because Pistol has already beaten me to it. We've got a thread "Blue Jays 2004 Draft" that we'll be updating when each pick is made. I believe our 2003 Draft thread holds the record for most posts in a thread, but I have a feeling we'll be shattering that record today.
- The Jays weren't able to split their Oakland series, as they fell to the A's 8-3 yesterday. The good news is that Woodward, Catalanotto and Speier could all be back for the Jays next game on Tuesday. To learn more, see Tony Kuttner's "Jays can't catch Oakland", Mark Thoma's (not a typo) "Four-run first pushes A's past Jays", Larry Millson's "Depleted Toronto loses again", Geoff Baker's "Plucky Jays fail to win the West", Richard Griffin's "Jays could use Kershner in the bullpen", and Mike Ganter's "Jays in too deep, and way too early".
- Fordin Notes (by Tony Kuttner). Another injury: Now Valerio De Los Santos is hurt. Lovely.
- Today's an off-day, so you can devote your discretionary sports time to the draft and to hockey games. Tomorrow's game features the 4-2 Ted Lilly for the 25-32 Blue Jays vs. the 3-5 Hideo Nomo for the 30-24 Dodgers. MLB.com has a game preview. All three games in the series against the Dodgers will be 7:05 PM EST starts at the Dome. Like many of us, Donovan Vincent is excited to see Eric Gagné come to the Dome.
I'm quite looking forward to today's draft. Unlike most of our Batter's Box roster, I know absolutely nothing about any of these guys, so I'm quite looking forward to reading their commentary. The only inside information I have about who the Jays are going to pick in the 1st round is this: They've never been in my kitchen.
