Another day, another win. Behind a strong performance by El Artista the Jays cruised to a 6-2 victory over Texas.
The seventh inning rally really put the game away. Gregg Zaun started it with a walk, his third free pass of the game. Josh Phelps got hit by a pitch, then Alexis Rios walked to load the bases. Eric Hinske unpacked them just as quickly, driving two runs across the plate with his second single of the afternoon.
"That was a big hit for us, but I thought Rios' at-bat to draw the walk was real big," Tosca said. "Sometimes, a young player will want to do too much in that situation and go outside the strike zone. I thought that was a big at-bat, but Eric's base-hit was real big."
* Fordin Notes - Delgado is likely headed to the DL, Rios is rambling, and Frasor's scoreless streak has reached 19 appearances.
Question:
If Delgado hits the DL, who gets the playing time? It sounds like Phelps would play 1B with Pond getting ABs at DH. Agree or disagree?

* Elliot on Baseball - Ryan Dempster had Tommy John surgery on August 4th. He just pitched 3 innings in the minors and hopes to be with the Cubs within a month. Why do I bring this up? As Will Carroll likes to frequently point out, the recovery time for Tommy John surgery is getting shorter and shorter, with some pitchers coming back in a years time. AJ Burnett is expected to join the Marlins this year a little over a year since his surgery. Hopefully McGowan will have a similar, quick recovery.
