Okay, so you want Henke to close it out. But who throws those first eight innings for the All-Time Jays?

Halladay '06 27 (19.85%)
Wells '99 1 (0.74%)
Clemens '97 85 (62.50%)
Guzman '96 2 (1.47%)
Hentgen '96 5 (3.68%)
Morris '92 2 (1.47%)
Stieb '90 12 (8.82%)
Key '87 1 (0.74%)
Alexander '84 0 (0.00%)
Clancy '80 1 (0.74%)

Uh, the 2003 Cy Young Award winner?  Franchise record 22 wins?  Career high 204 strikeouts?  Led the league with 266 innings and tied with 9 complete games?  Inhabits the left-hand banner of Battersbox.ca for the next 4+ years?

Since that's not an option, I guess it's Rocket Roger with his 297 Ks and 21 wins.

Hard to go against one of the best seasons of all time (Clemens 97), but my 2nd vote would go to Halladay '05. He was absolutely ridiculous the first half of last year. a 2.41 ERA in the AL EAST would hold up this year as the best in baseball right now.....and every time going into a game I'd feel like he was easily going to win it, unlike this year where I'm not sure.

I admit, i wasn't sure which Halladay to put up there, but since he's active and with the Blue Jays still, went with the current version, nice complement to the Ryan option in the closer poll.

I suppose Roy '03 would've been a better option, but frankly, it's a veritable coin toss.

Incidentally, I voted Clemens, and would have not matter which Halladay was up there. Arguably the greatest RHSP ever. Can't say that about Halladay, at least not for another 15 years if things go right.

To me Clemens triple crown year (either of them) was an easy choice.  However, Stieb had a few seasons that were probably better than 1990.  In 1985 he had an ERA+ of 171, by far his best (2nd best is 145 the season before)  For reference, Halladay was at 184 last year when his season ended early, 152 in '02 (not '03) was his second best while Roger was at 226 in '97 and 176 in '98, the 226 being his career best (just over last year's 221).

In 1983 the voters were drunk or something and gave the award to Lamar Hoyt (24-10 3.66 ERA) over Stieb (17-12 3.04 ERA).  Stieb also had a strong argument in 1990 (better stats than the winner in everything but W) and 1982, 1984, 1985.  Shame the team either couldn't score for him or hold a lead back then.

I echo jjdynomite's thoughts
