I voted for Buddy Bell, because KC brass was making crazy promises in the spring about how the Royals were guaranteed to compete, etc.  So maybe they will want to pretend as if they are really surprised that the team they put together isn't leading the division, and that the only person one could possibly blame is the manager?  It could happen ...

However, at this point I am ready to jump on any Fire-Gibbons band wagon that chooses to gain momentum.  Maybe Jeff Passan will get one started ... it's not like he doesn't have a good point: Why did AJ Burnett throw 127, 118, and 130 pitches in consecutive starts?

I don't think Bochy, Washington, and Acta have been around long enough to make a credible Fall Guy. I think Guillen still has some capital to spend after winning a World Series not too long ago. I think if Phil Garner was allowed to post 9 losing seasons in a row before getting the Houston job, they'll let him make it through at least one in Houston (and the Astros will not be a .500 team this season - losing Everett is absolutely devastating.)  I think Buddy Bell is utterly incompetent, but I think he's safe for the season, or at least until some of the young talent actually begins to arrive, when they'll need someone in the dugout who actually has a clue. Til then, Buddy can absorb the heat, and take the fall down the road when it's required.
