So Box polls have the following NL playoff teams; who wins and advances to the World Series?
Dodgers (NLW) | 25 (24.75%) |
Cardinals (NLC) | 1 (0.99%) |
Mets (NLE) | 40 (39.60%) |
Phillies (NLWC) | 35 (34.65%) |
AL divisional polling begins Monday.
I think that the Phillies have the most balanced team in the NL but think that something will go wrong with their pitching staff - Hamels, Myers, and Eaton aren't exactly known for their durability.
So I voted for the Mets because despite the crummy Met rotation (and it is crummy), their lineup is just so much better than everyone else's. Of course, in a seven game series against the Dodgers, the lineup might be neutralized by Schmidt/Lowe/Penny.
I think the Mets should get there - they have the lineup from top to bottom and have a solid defensive team...
The big concern as everyone knows comes from the rotation but the Mets will have the budget to go out and rent a couple starters for the stretch drive...plus Pedro should be back and probably coming into form just in time for the stretch/playoffs
Even if the Phills give them a run for the NLE - they'll be in under the wild card and they should all be mighty hungry these playoffs after falling just short of the dance last fall
