Congratulations to our friend John Gizzi and his wife Cindan on the birth of their first child, a daughter. Annabella Molly Gizzi, weighing 8 lbs., 1 oz., arrived at 6:11 p.m. last Wednesday, July 14. Mother and daughter are doing fine; knowing Gitz, it will be no surprise if his baby girl is a lefty.

Health and happiness to you and your family, John.

Wow, congratulations! Best wishes, and what a great name!

(I wouldn't worry, Coach; JG will keep Annabella on the correct political path.)

Just revisiting an April quote from JG hissownself:
No doubt the idea of me becoming a father sends shivers through loyal Bauxites, and in that we are kindred spirits, because not a day goes by that I do not shake with fear at some point.

That said, the early frontrunner for Annabella's first word is "Hannity." (Children, especially children of rebels, will rebel against their parents ... what more to expect from Gizzi offspring than an infant neocon?)

Congrats to Gitz and the Gizzi's.
Without any doubt the joys of children are without comparison. When I had my two I threw out basketball, football (N.American)racing -both horses and cars and every other sport I followed with the exception of summer baseball and winter hockey and a bit of soccer.
Enjoy Gitz, time does go by quickly.

I've already proferred my congratulations elsewhere, but I'll repeat them here as well.

John, why didn't you frogmarch Cindan past the border in time? ;)

Congratulations!

My daughter is 6 weeks old. I couldn't/wouldn't put her down for the first 3 weeks of her life and, now that I'm back at work, all I do is think about how much I miss being with her during the day.

Lefty's right... time flies. Her 'cry' changed after 2 weeks and she started smiling last week.

Pack a good digital camera and enjoy!

Been a great idea! I could have introduced the Gizzi's to a great immigration lawyer who might owe me one or two.

Thanks to everyone, especially to Coach for announcing the arrival of my future Canadian little girl. If all goes as we hope, one day Annabella and her family will have a new home in Vancouver -- until Bella turns 18 and gets as far away from her wacky father as she can.

I'm still laughing about this. I can see Gitz scolding a 12 year old Annabella saying "How many times have I told you not to leave Capitalism and Freedom on the living room floor!"

The mini-Gizzi is welcome to borrow from my extensive library any time she wishes. :)

One day in the future, Moffat visits the Gizzi home:

Gizzi to daughter: Be wary of him - he and his ilk control the means of production!

Daughter to Gizzi: Daddy, you're such a proletariat. I love the man's pink striped hair, even if he is older than, like, Brad Pitt.

Daughter to Gizzi: Daddy, you're such a proletariat

Gizzi's daughter (why does this sound like Prizzi's honour?) will undoubtedly have perfect grammar. Gizzi will be a proletarian, or if the slang of the 60s returns, a prole.

I thought Gitz lived in San Francisco, not the Valley. Actually "like" seems to have spread from the Valley all over the United States and Canada. Ugh.

I assume the 'Molly' was in loving tribute to the '93 World Series MVP?
